Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to make a submission to this journal. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper. When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
  • Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.

Original articles

This is the main section of the journal, they are articles on research, innovation and application of simulation in health sciences education, which have not been previously published, with the following format: introduction, material and methods, results, discussion and conclusions. A structured summary in Spanish and English must be included, with an extension of no more than 300 words.

The first page should have the following structure:
The main title of the manuscript in Spanish and English must be up to 15 words.
Short title in Spanish and English of up to 10 words for the page header.
Name of each author.
Institutional affiliation(s), academic degrees and position held by each author.
Corresponding author with telephone and email.
Contribution of each author.
Previous presentations in other formats, conferences or congresses.
Financing if applicable.
Gratefulness.
Conflict of interest, declare what is pertinent.

The manuscript begins on the second page, will be anonymous and must have the following structure:
Summary: it will be structured in four sections: Introduction (including the objective), material and methods, results, discussion and conclusion, the maximum length of the text will be 300 words, in Spanish and English.
Include keywords in Spanish and English, maximum 5, preferably MeSH terms (Medical Subject Headings).
The content of the manuscript must have the structure: Introduction, material and methods, results, discussion and conclusion, contain a maximum of 4000 words (not including summary or bibliography), with a maximum of 30 bibliographic citations, and up to 5 figures or tables will be admitted.

Tables, figures or tables:
Send in a Word file separate from the manuscript in editable format, in color or black and white, the title is placed at the top and the description and footer of the table, figure or table at the bottom. Each one must be separated by a page break and cited in the text. A maximum of 5 tables, figures or tables are allowed to be included.
All photographs, graphs, schemes and diagrams must be referred to as Figures, and numbered consecutively in the text with Arabic numerals (e.g. Figure 1).
Tables and tables must be sent in editable Word format, the title of each table must be understandable even without the manuscript; It should include type of data, number and type of subjects, place and year of the study. The title should be placed above the table, not in a data cell. Columns should be clearly labeled, including the unit of measure.
The figures must have the final size in which you want them to be displayed. Files must be greater than 2000 pixels or 300 dpi, in JPEG, GIF, TIFF, EPS, PNG in the author's best interest of providing the optimal quality format for the figures. We recommend that authors use the guidelines for figure preparation from the BMC Medical Education journal, available at: http://www.biomedcentral.com//info/ifora/figures.
In the case of photographs or patient data, the authors must attach to the manuscript the written informed consent authorizing its publication, reproduction and dissemination in the Journal of Simulation in Health Sciences of the Faculty of Medicine, UNAM.
Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce previously published material (text, tables or figures). These permissions must be requested from both the author and the publisher that has published said material.

Bibliography:
Citations and references should be numbered consecutively in alphabetical order. References must be recent and relevant, carefully written with the American Psychological Association (APA) format, it is recommended to consult the following manual on APA Standards 7th edition Citation and referencing guide:

Artículos de revisión

They are manuscripts focused on current topics relevant to the magazine, with the aim of expanding understanding of a specific topic with greater depth than a summary of relevant literature. The writing is in charge of the Editorial Committee, with exceptions. It will have a maximum length of 2500 words including the abstract. They must include the unstructured summary with a maximum length of 250 words in Spanish and English, with up to 3 keywords in Spanish and English. A maximum of 20 bibliographic citations in APA format and up to 3 figures, tables or tables are allowed.

Simulation experiences

It is a brief essay about the simulation experiences that they want to share with the community of simulationists. You must provide the relevant information, strengths and opportunities that you wish to express, as well as strategies and innovation in simulation.
This contribution must have a maximum length of 2000 words and must include title, authors, origin, summary of the content with the general objectives of the manuscript. The structure must have introduction, development, discussion, conclusions and bibliographic references in APA format and up to 2 figures, tables or tables are allowed.

Letters to the editor

Readers may send comments or considerations regarding articles recently published in the magazine and, or, relevant articles published in other magazines. The maximum length will be 450 words with a maximum of three bibliographic references in APA format.
